The public site for Universitas Terbuka's service center in Türkiye: 5 faculties, 48 study programs, services, and news in one place. I built it solo from October to December 2025, from the shape of the content to the last screen, and have maintained it since.
The challenge
A service center for a distance university has a lot to say: five faculties, dozens of programs, academic and non-academic services, live news. All of it had to load fast and stay cheap to run, with no backend team behind it.
The approach
I built it fully static. Pages render ahead of time, so they load instantly and hosting costs next to nothing. The heavy part, browsing dozens of programs, runs in the browser with search and filters instead of hitting a server.
Key decisions
- Static rendering over a server, so there is no bottleneck and no monthly compute bill
- Program search and faculty filters run client side, instant with no round trips
- Faculties and programs modeled as data, not hand-built pages, so updates stay easy
- Built mobile first, since most students arrive from a phone
